Beautiful brand new (3 months old) 8′x12′ well cargo trailer with electrical hookup, a/c, plumbing, security lights, one side has three sliding windows (with security cover) and handmade wood storage shelves. 3 small washing sinks and 1 hand sink. It’s white and comes with all texas tags, full warranty from wells cargo, and whatever else. I can send pictures if anyone wants. I am asking $15,000.

The benefit fundraiser for Sarah Rowland of Hairston Creek Farm is tonight, starting at 6:30 pm at Barr Mansion (http://www.barrmansion.com/). Austin’s finest chefs will be serving tastings made with locally sourced products from Austin’s farmers’ markets and farms. It will also feature a silent auction showcasing products and services from Austin food and craft artisans and other businesses.

Mobile Vending License

If you want to sell your product at a farmer’s market or festival, you need to purchase a mobile vending license. Its about $60 a year. You can get the form at:

Fill it out and take it with a check to the location on the form. Its fastest if you do it in person and don’t mail it in… Then check back with them a month later and see if its done. They don’t usually contact you to tell you its ready, its up to you.

Texas State Fair

Small Bites is trying to get members who are interested in going in on a booth at the Texas State Fair this year. We can sponsor the Food and Fiber Pavilion by reserving the 50ft. space where we could sample all of our yummy Austin products for three weeks! Apparently, over half a million people visit the Food and Fiber pavilion every year, which would be a great way to boost your sales.

We would sample our products in the “porch” area of the pavilion and then customers could purchase our products through the Go Texan store. Another option is for us to purchase three premium shelves in the Go Texan store for $720 and divide up the space between all of those companies interested. With this option, we wouldn’t have to demo our products, but we would get the visibility. On top of the shelf charge, the Go Texan representative would sell and manage our products for the entire three week period for a 30% commission.

Whole Foods Loan Program

At our July meeting, Jenny Brown from Whole Foods came and explained the details of their loan program. It is available to farmers as well as small food businesses. Here are the facts:

It is a nonexclusive loan, which means you can sell your product to other retailers in addition to Whole Foods.
Maximum loan of $100K
5-12% interest rate
$65 processing fee covers the credit check and UCC filing
Must be used for capital expenditures and not operational expenses
Businesses are using the loan to get their products into Whole Foods
Takes 1-3 months to get approval
