Need help using the Better Bites of Austin, AKA Small Bites of Austin site? The site is organized using tabs at the top of the page and Forums. If you have a WordPress account, you can post pages AND comment on existing information that someone else has posted. We recommend that you create a WordPress account and bookmark the Small Bites of Austin site so that you can contribute and participate as much as possible. If you just don’t want to mess with all that, send us an email with your information and we’ll post it for you.
There are three things you can do on our site:
1. Read our Fascinating Content
Click on the tabs at the top of the page to read about us, join our collective, find out what was discussed at our last meeting, or locate a product. To read topic-specific information, click a category under Forums. If you would like to add a category, create a WordPress account. They host our site for free. Creating an account essentially makes you a member of our site and allows you more broad access to our content. And, it doesn’t cost you anything.
Once you’ve gotten an account, you can log in to www.wordpress.com. From there, you should have a link to Small Bites of Austin, which will take you into the back-end of our site where you can click Dashboard | Manage | Categories | Create New. If that’s just too much, feel free to comment below and suggest a category or ask a question.
2. Comment on Existing Information
If you have information that you think might benefit others in the group, click a category in the Forum that relates to your information. If a similar post exists, you can click Add a Comment and enter your information.
3. Post a New Topic, Question, or Announcement
You can post completely new topics, questions or announcements to Small Bites of Austin if you have a WordPress account. They host our site for free. Creating an account essentially makes you a member of our site and allows you more broad access to our content. And, it doesn’t cost you anything.
Once you’ve gotten an account, you can log in to www.wordpress.com when you need to post something new. From there, you should have a link to Small Bites of Austin, which will take you into the back-end of our site where you can click the Dashboard and then Write a Post to begin entering your new question, information, or announcement. You can also simply click New Post in the top menu. Be sure to tie it to the appropriate category or it will end up being buried in the Uncategorized category.
To view the content once you’ve entered it, you can click the View Site link next to the heading at the top. It will take you to the front-end of our website, which is what the public sees. Your post should be in the category in which it was assigned.
